Brian's Album Reviews Group #1

Lucky Boys Confusion - Throwing the Game

A great mix of punk, reggae, rap and rock. With some hella cool songs such as "40/80", "Bossman", and "City Lights" just to name a few. In most of their songs they talk about hating police and marijuana. There's 14 tracks of pure punk genius on this album and I highly recommend it. For more info on LBC go to: www.luckyboys.com

Jimmy Eat World - Bleed American

Jimmy Eat World, straight out of Pheonix, Arizona! Previously this album was called Bleed American but after the events of 9/11 they changed it to "Jimmy Eat World". You might have seen the video for "The Middle" on VH1, as they do play it quite a bit. Last Winter JEW toured with Weezer and Tenacious D and this summer they have plans to tour with Green Day and Blink 182. This album is very old to me, because I started listening to it last summer, but now with it's popularity I feel abliged to put it on here. This is one of the best albums I've heard in awhile, everything just fits together quite nicely. Some other JEW CD's: Clarity and Static Prevails. For more info on JEW go to: www.jimmyeatworld.com

Unwritten Law - Elva

You might have heard of this band, they were even on TRL (which I hate) once or twice. I guess you could call this a Punk or a Rock band which ever you perfer. There hit single "Seein' Red" is doing great on the charts. There are 17 tracks on Elva but there are a few joke tracks in between. I'm pretty sure we will here a lot more from these guys this summer. If you like this CD check out their previous ones: Unwritten Law(1998), Oz Factor (1996), and Blue Room(1995) For more info on Unwritten Law go to : www.unwrittenlaw.com

Something Corporate - Leaving Through the Window

Something Corporate, yes yet another punk band. SC will be playing the Warped Tour this summer which I plan to attend. I have heard only six songs off this CD, but the six I heard rocked. The six I have are off the Audio Boxer EP which was released before "Leaving Through the Window". I am still recommending this CD to everyone, so go buy it. There single is entitled "iF yoU C jordan", yes I spelled it like that on purpose. As you can tell the F U and C are in caps, they are short for F*ck which appears in the song many times. Ozma - Rock & Roll Part III

Ozma isn't a very well known band, but is one of my favorites. They toured with Weezer in the Hyper Extended Midget Tour in the late winter. I got a chance to meet the lead guitarist "Ryen" and he was pretty cool guy, he talked to my crew and I for about 20 minutes. They were the first band to play that night and they put on a great show, they even did a cover of the Tetris song! In a article of Rolling Stone, Rivers Cuomo of Weezer said, "Ozma sound kind of like Weezer, but in such a good way. They sound more like Weezer than we do." In my opinion they have more synthesyzing (probably misspelled that) than Weezer but they still rock. If you don't think you will like it listen to the 8 minute jam of "Battlescars".
