Civ:III

Ryan's Civilization 3 Review:
This is one of my favorite gaming franchizes and with the newest installment, it doesnt seem to show any signs of slowing down. With the market in bad shape, Console gaming gaining speed, and computers games sucking as of late things look bad, but with games like CivIII it shows there just might be hope for the computer gamer after all. Which inevitably means, many a lonely weekend playing games on the computer are still ahead. Thus adding a couple more notches on the speedomitor on my spiral into complete social inexceptancy.

Gameplay:

As the name suggests, you take a civilization from it's humble beginnings and turn it into the premeir empire of the world.

As with the rest of the series gameplay is the best part of the game, which says a lot really, as it is fabled about beside many a camp fire. The sheer game play experience is the thing that will keep gamers coming back. I feel this game offers one of the few pure gaming experiences out right now, and it is the number 1 game in the ryanarcade office right now for sure. By office I mean my room (aka the LoV Shack - ladies im talking to you)

Graphics:

Well, graphics dont mean everything, even though the graphics have been improved in the third installment it still keeps true to it's 2d platform. Althought the 3 dimentional heads look good, they are really a non entity, other than kinda floating there and giving advise. When you build additions to your palace it looks good but it isnt anythign I havent been seeing

Sound:

It sounds kinda cool sometimes, but they are sounds that you could have heard in the first AOE. Not saying they are bad, just nothing new. They do add more depth to the game, such as when your workers are chopping down a jungle or forest you can actually hear them chopping it down, which would be amazing had I never played a RTS game in my life.

Replay:

There is a very high margin of replay in this game, since you are able to pick between many different civilizations each differing in many aspects each new game you start can take a very different turn than the game before. One that will be fun when you deide to play it again after you beat the newest 1st person shooter that actually lets you make love to the dead corpses that lay before you. (im still waiting)

Summary:
Gameplay - 100
Graphics - 80
Sound - 80
Replay - 95
Total - 95 (not an average)
